Plenary Lecture
Abstract: The pumping systems energy efficiency improvement represents
an important tool for energy savings and greenhouse gases (GHGs) emission
mitigation. The paper presents some modern solutions for energy consumption
minimization of the main types of pumps and pumping systems (energetic and
thermal equipments, clear and waste water systems so.). Also, it is proposed
an assessment and optimization method of the energy efficiency solutions,
considering relevant and measurable economic and ecologic characteristics. The
effects are compared with a references solution, based on an energy savings
maximization function, with practical operation restrictions. The method
highlights both the best rehabilitation solutions and operation optimization
for existing installations and the optimal solutions for the new installations
design.
