Special
Session
Optimization in Economics and Business
Assistant Professor George Kaimakamis, Dr. Konstantinos Siassiakos
Hellenic Army Academy
Greece
Optimizing decision behavior is at the core of
most economic analysis. Whether we ask how a consumer should behave, how
firms should compete in a market or how governments should decide on their
monetary policy, the ability to solve optimization problems is key to
finding an answer. Economic and business problems are often expressed using
mathematical models which are to be formulated, analysed and confronted with
real-world data. Many mathematical tools and methods are used frequently in
most economic models to demonstrate reasonable solutions. This special
session aims to provide an opportunity for practitioners and researchers
from various disciplines, including economists, mathematicians and
engineers, to discuss the latest research, practical needs, and future
directions in the field of optimization in economics and business.
